A well-known Dallas dentist and aspiring rap artist was shot multiple times Thursday night, according to his social media post late Friday.

In the post, Jerret Rosenborough, known at Dr. Rose, said, “I am very grateful to be able to say that I am recovering well with my family.” He thanked supporters and said he’s taking time to focus on recovery.

“I want to thank everyone who prayed for me and my family, and to DALLAS for always showing me love no matter what,” Rosenborough said.

Rosenborough and two others were wounded in the shooting north of downtown Dallas. Police say the victims took themselves to hospitals. They left behind a vehicle riddled with bullets and an office building with broken windows in the 4200 block of Central Expressway around 9 p.m. Thursday.

A well-known Dallas dentist and aspiring rap artist was shot multiple times Thursday night, according to his social media post late Friday.

The office is where Rosenborough practices dentistry. On his Instagram page, which has more than 150,000 followers, Rosenborough calls himself “Dr. Rose.” His profile includes photos of patients and photos and videos of him performing on-stage. His biography says, “Your favorite rapper is a denist.”

In his post Friday evening, Rosenborough said, “my situation is completely unrelated to the death of Mo3,” a well-known Dallas rapper killed Wednesday.

Gunfire on Wednesday ended the life of rapper Mo3 south of downtown on Interstate 35-E. Family and friends knew the victim as Melvin Noble.

Police said the 28-year-old victim got out of his car on the freeway and tried to run away from his attacker but was shot to death on the highway.

Noble’s manager Brandon Rainwater blamed jealousy for the murder and said social media posts about the shooting should help provide clues for police about who was responsible.

Friday, Rainwater said he did not believe the two shootings are related. A police spokesman said detectives also believed there was not a connection, aside from bullets and rap music.

Both cases remained under investigation. There had been no arrests as of Friday afternoon.

A candle light vigil was held Friday evening for Mo3.

As of Thursday, 212 homicides had occurred in Dallas in 2020, exceeding the total number of murders in 2019.

Family, friends and fans are gathered at a vigil to remembered Dallas rapper MO3. MO3, whose real name is Melvin Noble, was gunned down on I-35E near Marsalis on Wednesday. Texas Sky Ranger captured the scene as two blocks around Dallas City Hall were closed for a vigil on the plaza.
