The Duke and Duchess announced this week they have signed a television producing deal that could earn them £75-£112 million ($100-150 million) as they “inform and give hope” viewers on the streaming giant. The couple are predicted to make documentaries, feature films, scripted television programmes and children’s shows. They said in a statement after the deal was announced: “Through our work with diverse communities and their environments, to shining a light on people and causes around the world, our focus will be on creating content that informs but also gives hope.”
But royal expert Camilla Tominey has suggested their Netflix deal could lead them down a political path, as their venture echoes former US President Barrack Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama, who also signed a £50million deal with the service two years ago.
She said: “Yet with the Duchess said to be eyeing up the White House, and the couple keen to be associated not only with the Obamas, but the Clintons and the Clooneys, will it be enough for them to be just behind the camera?
“The Duchess may have ruled out a return to acting, but the success of the Sussexes’ latest venture surely depends on the visibility of their association with it.
“Which puts the couple in somewhat of a dilemma when it comes to their fiercely guarded privacy.”

Ms Tominey also cited celebrity agent Jonathan Shalit in her op-ed for the Sunday Telegraph, who noted that Meghan running for US President is “not beyond the realms of possibility”.
He said: “I’ve never heard her talk about politics, but it’s not beyond the realms of possibility.
“She’s American-born, she has every right to run for president. Ronald Reagan was a B-list actor who ended up in the White House. Never say never.

“The UK has a love-hate relationship with the Sussexes, but it’s different in the States.
“I think Meghan is very ambitious, but in this country that is sometimes considered an unpleasant character trait. Yet she’s achieved a great deal already.
“What I would say about her is, she does have a very magical, comforting way with people. They say men often marry someone in the mould of their mother. She’s got part of the touch Diana had.”
Meghan recently sparked outrage from royal commenters over her comments about voting in the upcoming US election for the MAKERS campaign.

Meghan interviewed Gloria Steinem in her new Santa Barbara back garden, were they talked about women’s rights and how political representation works.
Meghan has also got involved with politics in the past.
Before becoming a royal, the Duchess was a former UN advocate.
She also helped ban a sexist television advert for washing up liquid when she was 11-years-old and did this by writing to Hillary Clinton.

Speaking on their new project, Meghan and Harry said: “Our focus will be on creating content that informs but also gives hope.
“Our lives, both independent of each other, and as a couple have allowed us to understand the power of the human spirit: of courage, resilience, and the need for connection.
“Through our work with diverse communities and their environments, to shining a light on people and causes around the world, our focus will be on creating content that informs but also gives hope.
“As new parents, making inspirational family programming is also important to us, as is powerful storytelling through a truthful and relatable lens.”
