How Hip-hop has changed the last decade! Click To Tweet

Have you remarked about how hip-hop is so distinct compared to how it was ten years ago? I know you may come here, and say well duh, this is not just over the last decades, how about you say the last two. I have a general reason why I had said in the last decade. I had grown up with mainly listening to hip-hop from the late nineties to the early two thousand hip-hop.

I notice today with hip-hop the audience is completely different today then it has ever been before. When it comes to the hip-hop of today, I am not a big fan of how it was ten years ago. Nowadays with hip-hop, all the music sounds the same to me, it is not different and unique like it used to be. Many will dispute with me and say that hip-hop has evolved as a whole. The persona hip-hop is trying to push today does not fly with me. There is never going to be another rapper like snoop dog,2pac, or even fat joe. You’re going to say ok that is cool, but death jam and murder inc are dead. That may be true for the masses, but when it comes to me that is my favorite era of hip-hop. After 2008 I know I am going to sound old saying this, but hip-hop to me has not been the same since then. I think the current hip-hop today is garbage, and here’s why?

The music nowadays in hip-hop does not make any sense, and I no longer can resonate to the song or the backstory to it. Other than me listening to early 00s hip hop, I listen to the more independent artist now, and I listen to one rapper named Gemstones. I think mainstream rap now is not good nor lyrical like how it was in the era of hip-hop. It is sad to say too even people born in the 80s like the new hip-hop, and I would expect them to stick to that era of hip-hop, let alone early 00s. The reason I think the new hip-hop is trash, well the biggest reason is you can not understand what they are saying you might as well listen to instrumental music. It sounds harsh, but it is true why listen to music that you can not understand? It seems nowadays especially the youth the 2000s babies have to listen to this garbage, which most of them do. Let alone some of the teens today do listen to the old hip-hop but that is not common with what they really listen too. Honestly, the youth have people like Jake Paul, and Logan Paul to look to up to when it comes to listening to music. I personally like Logan Paul’s music better than Jakes, but I do not really follow him as I use too.

You have seen my point of view on what I think about hip-hop today. I do not have the thought it has evolved to something exceptional. I do think it does run the world believe that. I do not think Nicky, and Cardi B is better than Missy Elliott. You heard me said “ The persona hip-hop is trying to push today does not fly with me. I think the current hip-hop today is garbage” At the end of this blog you may not agree with what I say, but you really need to think does the hip-hop today makes sense compared to hip-hop from the early 2000s? And not only that you should maybe ask yourself what is it about the hip-hop I like today compared to a decade ago?
